Art for Progress is pleased to be participating in this year's Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.
Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day is a global community celebration of the original analog form of picture taking. Participating students will be taught the basics of how central light is for photography through this process. They will then learn how to make a simple camera using everyday items found at home. Eg. Tin cans or small box packages.

The fun builds when they start taking instant photographs with their own cameras and developing the work in a traditional darkroom setting. Students will process negative prints and contact prints.

For camera construction, participants are encouraged ahead of time to bring:
-old cookie cans
-soda cans
-mobile phone boxes and shoe boxes
-cardboard tube packaging

Great items to bring for still life photo subjects:
-small toys
-circle, square, or triangular objects,
-those funny cereal box prizes
-funpark souvineer items
Basically any small, quirky looking item lying around at home could make a great pinhole subject.

Everyone keeps their own pinhole work at the end of the day.

NOTE: We will also have other visual art activities and a music workshop conducted by other instructors. See AFP website.

Suggested minimum age for Pinhole participation is 10 years and up. Adults are welcome too!

All photos taken at the workshop on April 28th, 2013 will be scanned, uploaded, and featured on the WPPD website, where they will be seen from other pinhole photographers from around the world.

Photo-based artist Berette Macaulay (SeBiArt) will
teach this workshop on behalf of Art for Progress, a NYC based 501 (c)3 non profit arts organization.

~Art For Progress' Arts Education Community provides underserved youth with dynamic artistic programming that promotes reflection and self-expression. By connecting youth with working artists, their
communities and each other, we hope to transform the way they see themselves and the world around them.~
